The Rudyak Marsh is not about mud and mosquitoes, but about a unique world where every plant and animal is a small miracle.
Its mysterious history spans 2,000 years. The swamp formed on the site of a large transparent lake that slowly dried up, became overgrown with moss, and was covered with a bizarre forest.
There are over 200 species of living organisms per square meter! It is a microcosm where everything lives, breathes, rustles, buzzes, and interacts.
It covers 100 hectares, a space where nature takes its time.
1–4 meters — that is the height of the local spruce trees. They resemble enchanted creatures from a fairy tale: they grow slowly among the acidic peat and cold, but they do not give up.
3 meters — the thickness of the moss peat. It is a silent chronicle of millennia, page after page, layer after layer.
As part of the project, funded by the local budget and a grant, in 2023 the Vorokhta Village Council, in cooperation with the Carpathian National Park, restored this location: a wooden footbridge and benches were installed in the surrounding area, and lighting was provided using light panels.
So, come check it out! Check out the route on our interactive map.
