Safety

Travel safely — for yourself and for nature

The Vorokhta community is home to breathtaking nature — forest-covered slopes, rapid rivers, and stunning alpine meadows. On this page, you’ll find useful tips, warnings, and contact information for the services that ensure tourist safety within the community.

What you need to know before hiking in the mountains

  • Check the weather forecast — conditions in the mountains can change rapidly. Avoid hiking in fog, heavy rain, or strong wind, especially if you lack experience or are without a guide.
  • Choose your gear carefully: comfortable footwear, clothing for adverse weather, a first aid kit, and a map or GPS.
  • Inform the rescue services about your plans — your route and estimated return time.
  • Remember that mobile coverage is not always available in the mountains — it’s worth having an alternative means of communication (a radio or satellite messenger).

The Carpathian Mountains are unpredictable — never neglect safety when exploring them.
